Thunderbird EMail Setup

 

Step 1

  • Select "View settings for this account" (highlighted blue box in picture).

 

Step 2

  • Select your email address on the list to the left and ensure your entire email address is typed into the box labeled "Email Address".

 

Step 3

  • Click on "Server Settings".

  • Ensure your "Server Name" is "mail.lingonetworks.net", and the "Port" number is 110 (143 for IMAP).

  • Ensure your full email address is typed into the box next to "User Name".

  • For "Connection security", select "STARTTLS", and for "Authentication method", select "Normal password".

 

Step 4

  • Click "Outgoing Server (SMTP)".

  • Select your email address in the list (highlighted red box in picture), then click "edit" (highlighted blue box in picture).

 

Step 5

  • In the "SMTP Server" box, ensure "smtp.lingonetworks.net" is typed into the "Server Name" box.

  • Ensure the number "587" is typed into the "Port" box.

  • For "Connection security", select "STARTTLS".

  • For "Authentication method", select "Normal password".

  • For "User Name", ensure your full email address is typed into box.

  • Click "OK", and you will return to the main "Account Settings" screen.

  • Click "OK" again at the bottom right, to save the settings.

 

Step 6

  • Upon sending your first email using these new settings, you may receive an "Add Security Exception" prompt.

  • Click the checkbox for "Permanently store this exception", then click "Confirm Security Exception" (highlighted blue box in picture).
